The Historic Klondyke Trading Post is a unique brand that prides itself on its rich history and rustic charm. Nestled in the heart of Alaska's rugged wilderness, this trading post has been a fixture in the Klondike region for over a century. The owners have worked hard to preserve the building's original character, and visitors can admire its weathered wooden exterior, original signage, and vintage decor. Inside, the shop is stocked with local goods, including handmade crafts, fur pelts, and unique souvenirs. The trading post is also known for its delicious Cajun-inspired fare, including catfish, crawfish, and etouffee, which can be enjoyed in the cozy restaurant area or on the outdoor patio. For travelers looking for an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience, The Historic Klondyke Trading Post is a must-visit destination.

It's basically a bar with subpar food. The place is dark and shabby looking. The shrimp basket is popcorn shrimp. I would not even call them popcorn. They were smaller than popcorn. I couldn't even taste the shrimp. My husband's sandwich was ridiculous. The only decent item was the homemade onion rings. The waitress was very good. I am sure this place is lots of fun to hang and have a drink and listen to music. Thumbs down on eating there.
The saying don't judge a book by its cover is very true in this restaurants case. The food overall was delicious. You have two ways to order your food, one is off the menu(typical sports bar food) and the second way is a meat and three lunch line( southern cooking food). Our waitress and the other employees that work at this restaurant are very friendly.
The only thing for this restaurant is it needs more lighting inside.
But a very enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend.
Stopped in while passing through Vicksburg because it had a ratings. It was overrated. The place was so dark you could not see real well. It is apparently a local dive. We were greeted with a hello as we entered. Everything looked old and not well kept. We were the only ppl being waited on. They took a bit to wait on us as the waitress was busy filling up and cleaning up. Three of us placed an order: grilled shrimp w/ hush puppies, sweet potato fries, fish w/ hush puppies & sweet potato fries, and etouffee. Being a Louisiana girl, I have high expectations for my neighboring Mississippi seafood products. They were all just okay. The hush puppies were left with just a bite missing as we each tried them and gave up. We would not recommend this place. We would not go back. So okay service, terrible atmosphere, just okay or less than okay food.
I had the Blackened fish with shrimp and
collard greens.
They were the best and also the fish was really blackened! My son had the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and hush puppies! He loved it. My daughter had the Shrimp PoBoy and she ate it quickly and said it was great! The service was
Amazing! I love the Rustic atmosphere! A must
Visit when in Vicksburg
Come here and enjoy the place. Please come with an open mind and order local menu items. Great staff!! Unique atmosphere! I had the grilled catfish with etoufee and okra! Delicious
We read the mixed reviews but really wanted to eat our late lunch someplace that was local and relatively close to the river. Other nearby venues were closing by 2 so we decided to give it a chance in spite of our reservations. I was glad to see there weren’t many people there because other reviews say they allow smoking inside. We were confused about what to do when we walked in. There’s a table around front with slips of paper to order burgers but we didn’t see menus and weren’t sure what to do?? A nice guy from the kitchen noticed we were confused and he showed us the “lunch line” and we decided to try it. Pork chops with rice & gravy, peas, Mac & cheese etc….It was basically cafeteria food. Like hospital cafeteria food. Probably should’ve ordered the burger. We didn’t finish our meal, just chunked it and left. Looks like it’s probably a hopping place for night life…maybe?? and the people are friendly but I wouldn’t recommend it for dining.
Amazing food in the most unusual place. An old gas station on the river and you'd never guess how wonderful the food is. The fried green tomatoes with that cream sauce, mushrooms and crawfish, the creole catfish plate, fried shrimp, homemade tarter sauce, fries and hush puppies were what we sampled. Definitely making a trip back!
This place is perfect for what and where it is. Classic food, hamburger steak and fries. I had fried catfish ,it was done well. It is off the beaten path in an older area. A dive in the greatest sense. Loved it if you are in Vicksburg... Stop and try it.
